Urban C.O.R.E. (Community, Outreach, Recreation, and Education) is a community-focused recreational center located
in Fishtown, Philadelphia. The project centers on inclusivity, promoting spaces that engage residents of all ages and
backgrounds through recreation, wellness, education, and gathering. A central urban corridor connects the school side
of Fishtown to the broader neighborhood, anchored by a sunken basketball court and a naturally lit atrium that acts as
the heart of the building. The design draws inspiration from Fishtown’s industrial history, blending exposed structural
elements and modern materials that echo traditional patterns. Urban C.O.R.E. fosters connection by weaving together
the neighborhood’s historic character with its evolving community spirit.
